Big Orange Beer
Created for Big Orange’s 10th birthday in collaboration with Pierre Régniez-Baines and Allkin Tap & Bottle, Citra Synthwave combined craft beer with playful branding, illustration and retro-inspired design – from a celebratory tap takeover to a future bottled release.
Challenge
To celebrate Big Orange’s 10th anniversary, we wanted to create something a little different. In collaboration with Allkin Tap & Bottle, we developed our own limited-edition craft beer to accompany the celebrations and tap takeover. We wanted to create a playful brand identity that reflected our personality while feeling authentic within the craft beer world. The design needed to work across pump clips, beer mats and future bottled beer labels.
Approach
Inspired by retro synthwave aesthetics, we created the identity for Citra Synthwave – a vibrant, citrus-inspired pale ale. We developed a fun illustrated lemon mascot, bold typography and bright colour palette that brought the beer to life. From tap badges and beer mats to posters and bottle label concepts, each element was designed to create a memorable brand experience while celebrating a decade of Big Orange.
The Strategy
Citra Synthwave became one of the highlights of our anniversary event, generating plenty of conversation and adding another layer to the Big Orange brand experience. We loved working with Allkin Tap & Bottle to create something genuinely unique that guests loved, with many taking beer mats home as keepsakes and asking about future releases. What started as a fun internal project has since evolved into big plans … watch this space!
